Nashville SC beats Orlando City in closed friendly, 3-1

Nashville Soccer Club earned its first-ever win Sunday in a closed-door friendly against Orlando City SC, a 3-1 win, according to a tweet from Nashville defender Justin Davis.

A team report after the match disclosed that goals were scored by Lebo Moloto, Alan Winn and Michael Cox. That report did not include the final score.

Goalkeeper C.J. Cochran noted that Nashville fell behind early before scoring three unanswered goals.

We will qualify the final score with the note that we don’t know the format of the friendly or whether Orlando played its starters. Regardless, though, a 3-1 score is certainly positive.

The result is the team’s first win in four preseason matches. Nashville drew with Ottawa and Chicago Fire last week in Bradenton, Florida in the wake of a 3-1 loss to Atlanta United in its inaugural match.

The three-goal output also represents Nashville’s first-ever multi-goal game. The Boys in Gold scored in the second half against Atlanta and the second minute versus Ottawa. The Chicago friendly ended in a scoreless draw.

Nashville ends its preseason MLS swing with a 1-1-1 record against top-flight sides and improves to 1-1-2 overall. The team will conclude the preseason with matches at Lipscomb University (March 1), FC Cincinnati (March 3) and Chattanooga FC (March 10).
